Quiz mode evaluates answers. Visitors answer questions and, after the contact step, see a result page that fits their answers. This suits self-tests, lead checks, knowledge tests and personality tests ("Which type are you?").
Requirements
- Funnelforms Pro. This feature is not included in Funnelforms Free.
- At least one Choice or Dropdown question. Only these questions count in a quiz.
- A contact step. Results appear after the contact step.
- Changes reach visitors only after you publish the form.
In Funnelforms Free, the Settings workspace shows More settings with "These come with Funnelforms Pro:" and Quiz in the list. If a form is already a quiz, for example after switching from Pro to Free, Free also shows the Quiz card so you can end the quiz; the form can be published only without it.
Where to find it
Funnelforms → Forms → open a form → workspace Settings → section Quiz. The Questions table there also holds all points and right answers. Alternatively, enter them in the Structure workspace at the question under Answers.
Features at a glance
- Three kinds: Points per answer, Right and wrong answers and Personality types.
- The Questions table lists every choice and dropdown question with its answers. You set up the whole quiz in one place.
- With points and right answers: several result pages, each from a minimum score.
- With personality types: up to 20 types, each with a result page of its own.
- Optional with right answers: show after each question whether the answer was right.
- Funnelforms adds up the points in a calculation of its own and sets the paths to the results itself.
Step by step
Quiz with points or right answers
- Open the Settings workspace → section Quiz.
- Click Points per answer ("Every answer is worth points, such as a lead check or a self-test.") or Right and wrong answers ("One point per right answer, such as a knowledge test.").
- In the Questions table, enter the Points for each answer, or tick the right answers in the Right column. Clicking a question's name opens its step.
- Check the line "Questions that count: … Most points: …".
- Under Results, click Add result. The first result takes over the thank-you page after the contact step; further results are new ends.
- For every further result, set under from the score from which it shows.
- Click a result's name to edit its page.
- Check the quiz in the Preview and click Publish.
Personality quiz
- In the Quiz section, click Personality types ("Answers count toward types; the type with the most points is the result."). Funnelforms adds "Type 1" and "Type 2", each with a result page.
- Name the types under Types and their results, for example "Explorer" and "Planner". Add type adds more.
- In the Questions table every type has a column. Enter how many points an answer gives each type.
- Set the order with Move up. On a tie, the type further up wins.
- Click the name of a type's result page to edit it. A new page shows "Your result" and the type's name.
- Check every type in the Preview and click Publish.
How it works
Which kind should I choose?
| Kind | Option under Points | What counts |
|---|---|---|
| Points per answer | Each answer has points | Every answer has a number. With a multiple choice the points of the chosen answers add up. |
| Right and wrong answers | One point per right answer | A question gives one point when exactly the right answers are chosen. Single choice and dropdown have one right answer. |
| Personality types | Answers count toward types | Every answer gives points to one or more types. The type with the most points is the result. |
You can switch the kind any time under Points. When you switch away from Right and wrong answers, Funnelforms removes the right-answer marks and the feedback after each question. When you switch to Personality types, every existing result becomes a type named after its page. When you switch away from personality types, the types and their points go.
How does Funnelforms pick the result?
Funnelforms adds paths from the contact step to the results and keeps them itself. With points, visitors see the highest result their points reach. The lowest result applies to everyone who scores less; it shows below … or everyone. With personality types, each path leads to the page of the type with the most points.
When you select one of these paths, the Path section shows Path to a quiz result, and the contact step's tab shows Paths to the quiz results. You change them only in the Quiz section.
How do I show the points on a result page?
A new result page comes with a text such as "You scored 7 of 10 points." or "You answered 7 of 10 questions right.". For your own texts there are two placeholders:
{{calc:…}}shows the points reached. The exact ID is in the hint under Results.{{quiz:max}}shows the highest possible score.
In a personality quiz, the page shows the type's name as text. The calculation "Quiz type" only gives the type's number in the list, not points.
What does "Show right and wrong after each question" do?
The option exists for Right and wrong answers. When visitors click Next, the form marks the right answer and a wrong choice, then moves on.
Caution: With this option the right answers are part of the page source. Turn it off if the test should really test. The plugin never sends points or type points to the browser.
What happens with "End quiz mode"?
Quiz mode ends. The calculation and the result pages stay. The right-answer marks and the points for types are removed.
What happens when I remove a result or a type?
Remove result deletes the result together with its page. Remove type deletes the type, its result page and the points answers give it.
Where do I see the results of all visitors?
In the form's analytics (Pro only): Funnelforms → Statistics → click the form. From 3 sent entries, the card Quiz: points or Quiz: right answers shows average, median, range, the chart "Sent entries by points" and how often each result was reached. A personality quiz has types instead of points: the card Quiz: types shows only how often each result was reached.
What does Funnelforms Free do with a quiz?
Free cannot publish a form with a quiz and does not show a quiz that is already published on the website, for example after switching from Pro to Free. The settings stay saved.
Best practices
- Give the lowest result page a text that works for everyone with few points.
- Choose minimum scores that real visitors can reach. The highest possible score is in the Quiz section.
- In a personality quiz, give every question an answer with points for every type so that no type is at a disadvantage.
- Test every result and every type in the Preview.
Troubleshooting
| Problem | Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| A warning appears instead of "Questions that count". | No question has points or a right answer. | Enter points in the Questions table or tick Right. |
| Add result or Add type is greyed out. | There is no contact step, or there are already 20 results or types. | Add a contact step. More than 20 are not possible. |
| The same result always appears. | The minimum scores are too high or too close together. | Adjust the values under from to the highest possible score. |
| In a personality quiz the first type often wins. | A tie: then the type further up wins. | Spread the points more unevenly or change the order. |
| A type shows No result page. | Its page was deleted. | Remove the type and add it again. |
| The quiz calculation's formula cannot be changed. | The quiz keeps it itself. | Change the points in the Questions table. |
Tips
- You can use the "Quiz points" calculation as Lead score so the points appear on the entry.
- With Continue by result in the quiz calculation, you send visitors on by points even before the contact step.
FAQ

Do visitors see their points before entering their contact details? Result pages appear after the contact step. To show an interim result, put the calculation's placeholder into a step before it.
How many results and types are possible? Up to 20 each.
Can I use the points in an e-mail? Yes. The calculation's placeholder works in e-mails too, see E-mail notifications.
