Insert calculation results into notification emails
When your form contains a calculation field (e.g. a price, score, or points value), you can automatically include the result in your admin or user notification email. It works just like any other form field variable: one click in the variable panel to the right of the email editor inserts it at the cursor position.
Prerequisites
- A published form with at least one field of type Calculation.
- An enabled email notification (admin or user).
- A configured email service.
Where do I find this setting?
Form editor → Notifications → tab Email Notifications → sub-tab Admin or User.
Step by step: insert the calculation result
- Open the form and make sure the calculation field has a variable name (e.g.
total_price). - Switch to the Notifications tab and enable the desired email notification (admin or user).
- In the content area, click where you want the calculation result to appear.
- In the Form field variables panel to the right of the editor, click the calculation variable — it is inserted as a placeholder (e.g.
{{total_price}}). - Click Save and run a real test submission to verify the value appears correctly in the email.
Troubleshooting
- Variable appears as a placeholder in the email: the variable name doesn't exactly match the field's variable name (case-sensitive). Insert via the panel instead of typing it manually.
- Value is empty: the calculation was not evaluated for this submit (e.g. an input value is missing). Check the formula in the calculation field.
- Wrong number format: format and unit are configured directly on the calculation field — changes there apply to the email.
FAQ
Can I use multiple calculation fields in the same email? Yes. Every calculation variable is listed in the panel and can be inserted as often as needed.
Does this work in the user email too? Yes. The mechanism is identical for admin and user emails.
Do I need a special plan for this? No. As soon as your plan includes the respective email notification, you can insert calculation variables without an additional plan gate.
