Funnelforms 5 comes in two editions. Funnelforms Free costs nothing and comes from the WordPress plugin directory. Funnelforms Pro is a plugin of its own with every feature of Free and many more. Both use the same form builder, the same forms and the same entries. This article shows what each edition contains, how you compare Free and Pro right in the plugin, and how you can tell where a limit is.

Requirements

  • Funnelforms Free 5.0 or Funnelforms Pro 5.0 is installed and active.
  • For the page Pro features in Free: the right Edit forms.

Where to find it

  • In Funnelforms Free: Funnelforms → Pro features, and the link Pro features next to Funnelforms Free in the plugin list.
  • In the form builder of Free: Pro features carry the badge Pro. The link More about Funnelforms Pro in the form settings also leads to the page Pro features.

Features at a glance

  • Free has no limits on forms, steps, fields or entries.
  • Free contains the form builder with templates, design, preview, entries, the statistics of all forms, the import from other form plugins and the move from Funnelforms 3.
  • Free sends one notification and one confirmation mail per contact step.
  • Pro adds field types, logic, calculations, actions, payments, appointments, lead management, the analytics of each form and more.
  • Pro has support by ticket and the connection with your Funnelforms account for updates.
  • The page Pro features in Free compares Free and Pro by area and shows the way to Pro in three steps.
  • Free does not connect to Funnelforms servers on its own. It only does so when you turn on diagnostic data (off by default). The pages of the Funnelforms account open only when you click a button for them yourself.

Step by step

Check which edition you use

  1. Open Plugins.
  2. See whether Funnelforms Free or Funnelforms Pro is active.
  3. Or: if the menu Funnelforms shows the item Pro features, you use Free. If it shows Account and Support, you use Pro.

Compare Free and Pro

  1. In Funnelforms Free, open Funnelforms → Pro features.
  2. At the top right, the card Your edition shows that Free is active and what Pro adds.
  3. Click Compare Free and Pro. The page jumps to the table Free and Pro compared.
  4. Read per area what Free includes and what only Pro has. A check mark means "Included", a dash "Not included".
  5. If you want to switch, click Upgrade to Pro. The article "Switching from Funnelforms Free to Pro" describes what comes next.

Remove a Pro feature from a form

  1. Open the form in the form builder of Free.
  2. Click Publish. If the form uses a Pro feature, Funnelforms names it: "The form uses "…", which is part of Funnelforms Pro, so Funnelforms Free cannot publish it."
  3. Delete the named question or action, or replace a condition with a question and an answer.
  4. If it is a Pro setting, open the Settings of the form. The section of that setting is shown there, for example Calculations or Payment, so you can switch it off or remove it.
  5. Click Publish again.

How it works

What does the page Pro features show?

The top bar of the page shows Funnelforms Pro. The page has five parts:

  • Top section: "Funnels that book, calculate and get paid" with the buttons Upgrade to Pro and Compare Free and Pro and the note "Your forms, entries and settings stay as they are." Next to it, the card Your edition. If you have bought Pro already, Already bought Pro? Install it there leads to the install step. If Funnelforms Pro is already in the plugins folder, you see Activate Funnelforms Pro instead.
  • What Pro adds: six cards on appointment booking, payments, calculations and quizzes, integrations, A/B tests and conversions, and "Every language".
  • Free and Pro compared: the table by area, with Upgrade to Pro once more below it.
  • Upgrade in three steps: Choose a plan, Install Pro, Activate it.
  • Help: the buttons Help center and Support forum.

Upgrade to Pro opens the plan selection of your Funnelforms account in a new tab. Free itself never downloads or installs Pro.

On top of that come the import from other form plugins and the move from Funnelforms 3.

In Free, paths branch by the answer to a choice or dropdown question before them ("when … is answered with …"). The same rule applies to fields that only appear after a certain answer: under Show this field you choose a question and an answer in Free. On a redirect, Free adds parameters with a fixed value under Parameters of the address; earlier answers in them are part of Pro.

What is only in Funnelforms Pro?

HelpSupport by ticket

In the design, saved styles and Take from a website are only in Pro. Only Pro also has the areas Appointments, Integrations, Account and Support in the menu, and the way back to Funnelforms 3.

Of these, the table on the page Pro features names Lead status, tags, assignment and notes, Export for Excel, Analytics of each form with sources and campaigns, Export of the statistics and Saved styles and import of your branding. Free also marks them where they are in Pro.

How does Free show Pro features in the builder?

  • Pro field types show up as a tile with the badge Pro. You cannot add them; the hint when you point at one reads, for example, "Slider: in Funnelforms Pro".
  • Under Add an action you find only the two kinds of mail. Below it: "Webhooks, CRM and newsletter tools, Slack and Teams, text messages, WhatsApp, conversion tracking and more than one mail of each kind come with Funnelforms Pro."
  • In the form settings, the card More settings names the Pro settings under "These come with Funnelforms Pro:", with the link More about Funnelforms Pro to the page Pro features.
  • Free only offers templates without Pro features.
  • Under Funnelforms → Statistics, a line with the badge Pro takes the place of the sources and campaigns, "Sources, channels and campaigns come with Funnelforms Pro. They are counted already, so Pro shows them at once.", with the link More about Funnelforms Pro. The button Export carries the badge Pro and leads to the page Pro features. In Free, a click on a form opens its figures on the same page; there "More in the analytics" shows the badge Pro.
  • In the editor, the switch Analytics on the canvas carries the badge Pro. It only appears with the right "See entries". In Free, Show on the canvas in the figures of a form under Funnelforms → Statistics opens the editor with the figures per step.
  • Under Entries, Free shows no lead status, tags, assignment, notes, Board, For Excel or Send again…. The CSV export has no columns for lead status, tags and assignment.

What happens to a form that already contains Pro features?

This happens when you switch from Pro to Free or take over a form from Pro. Free shows the whole form in the builder:

  • A question with a Pro field type says: "This field type is part of Funnelforms Pro. Delete the question to publish the form."
  • A Pro action says: "… is part of Funnelforms Pro. Delete this action to publish the form."
  • A path with a Pro condition says: "This path has a condition of Funnelforms Pro. Choose a question and an answer to replace it." A field says: "This field has a condition of Funnelforms Pro. Choose a question and an answer to replace it, or show the field always."
  • If the form uses a Pro setting, Free shows the matching section in the Settings, such as Languages, Calculations, Quiz, A/B tests, Payment, Confirm e-mail address or Access. This lets you switch the setting off or remove it. Sections the form does not use are not shown in Free.

As long as a Pro feature is in it, Free cannot publish the form. On the website, Free does not show a form that would be incomplete without the Pro feature: with Pro field types, phone verification, conditions from Pro (also on fields that appear after an answer), calculations, quizzes, A/B tests, payments, access, time limit, save and continue later, double opt-in, several languages and earlier answers in questions and redirects. Other Pro features, such as custom CSS or a webhook, stay unused in Free; the form then appears without them. Lead status, tags, assignments and notes from Pro stay saved; Free does not show them.

Where do I get help?

  • Funnelforms Free: in the support forum of Funnelforms Free in the WordPress plugin directory at https://wordpress.org/support/plugin/funnelforms-free/ and in this Help Center. In Free you reach both with the buttons Help center and Support forum on the Overview and under Funnelforms → Pro features in the section Help.
  • Funnelforms Pro: under Funnelforms → Support, with answers from the help center and by ticket.

Best Practices

  • Start with Free if choice questions, simple paths and mails are enough for you. A later switch to Pro takes everything along.
  • Do not build forms in Free around Pro features you will need soon. Plan the switch before you publish.
  • If you switch from Pro to Free, check every form in the builder for the badge Pro and for sections in the Settings before it should go live.

Troubleshooting

Tips

  • Paths by answer work in Free too: at the path, choose the question and the answer it should apply to.
  • If you draw a further path on the canvas in Free from a step without a choice question, Funnelforms moves the default path instead of creating a Pro condition.
  • For its Pro rows, the table under Funnelforms → Pro features uses the same names Free gives when you publish.
