The statistics show you how your forms are received: how many visitors see a form, how many begin, how many send it and at which step the others leave. The Statistics page sums up all forms and compares every period with the period of the same length before it. Click a form to see its figures on the same page.

Requirements

  • Funnelforms Free 5.0 or Funnelforms Pro 5.0. The Statistics page, the figures per form and the figures on the canvas are included in both editions. Where visitors come from (Pro only), Export (Pro only) and the analytics of a form (Pro only) come only with Funnelforms Pro.
  • You have the right "See entries". Whoever may see entries also sees the statistics and, in Pro, may export them. You give the rights under Funnelforms → Settings → Rights.
  • The forms are published and run on Funnelforms 5. Views, steps and sources are measured only for those. For forms that still run on Funnelforms 3, only the entries count.

Where to find it

  • All forms: Funnelforms → Statistics
  • One form: in the table Forms compared, click the form's name. In Pro this opens the form's analytics (see Form analytics), and so does the arrow at the end of the row. In Free the name opens the form's figures on the same page.
  • In the form list (Funnelforms → Forms), the chart icon on a published form opens the window "Statistics: name of the form".

Features at a glance

  • Period 7 days, 30 days, 90 days or Custom with a first and last day, up to 400 days.
  • Every period is compared with the same number of days before, shown at the top as "compared with …".
  • Key figures Views, Started, Entries and Conversion rate, each with its change.
  • Chart Views and entries per day, with a dashed line Entries before.
  • From view to entry: Views, Started, Sent as a funnel.
  • Forms compared: per form Views, Started, Entries, Conversion and Entries per day as a small curve.
  • Where visitors come from (Pro only): channels and sources with views, entries and conversion.
  • When entries come in: a heatmap by weekday and hour.
  • Where visitors leave: the steps with the most drop-offs over all forms.
  • Entries by device: Mobile, Desktop, Tablet.
  • Export (Pro only): the figures as a CSV file.
  • What the statistics record: an explanation at the end of the page.
  • The figures of one form with Open in editor and, in Free, Show on the canvas; in Pro the form's analytics.

Step by step

Choose and compare a period

  1. Open Funnelforms → Statistics.
  2. At the top, choose 7 days, 30 days or 90 days. 30 days is preselected.
  3. For your own period, click Custom, choose First day and Last day, and click Show. The last day can be today at the latest, and the period can be at most 400 days long.
  4. The bar below tells you which days you see and what they are compared with ("compared with …").
  5. Below every key figure is the change, for example "+12% against the 30 days before".

Compare forms and look at one more closely

  1. Scroll to Forms compared.
  2. Compare views, entries and conversion. The arrows show the change against the period before.
  3. Click the form's name. In Pro the form's analytics open with the same period, in Free the form's figures.
  4. All forms takes you back to the overview, Open in editor to the editor.

Find drop-off points

  1. Scroll to Where visitors leave.
  2. Each row names the step, the form and, for example, "30 of 120 left here (25%)".
  3. Click the step. In Pro the form's analytics open at the table Steps, in Free the form's figures.

Show the figures of a form on the canvas (Free)

  1. Open Funnelforms → Statistics and click the form's name.
  2. Click Show on the canvas at the top. The button appears once the form is published.
  3. The editor opens. Every step shows the figures of the last 30 days, for example "120 reached" and "30 left (25%)".
  4. Hide figures in the bar above the canvas removes them again.

In Pro you show the figures on the canvas with the analytics mode in the editor (see Analytics mode in the builder).

Export the figures (Pro only)

  1. In the period bar at the top, click Export.
  2. Choose CSV (comma separated, decimal point) or CSV for Excel (semicolons, decimal mark of the site).
  3. The file holds the totals, all forms, the days and the drop-off points of the chosen period, each with the period before.

How it works

What do the key figures mean?

  • Views: how often a form was visible on a page. It is counted once per visit.
  • Started: visits in which the visitor clicked, typed or chose something in the form.
  • Entries: forms that were submitted completely.
  • Conversion rate: entries per view. The change is given in points, for example "+2 points against the 30 days before". Without views there is a dash.
  • If there are no figures in the period before, you read "No figures before".

What is different in Free?

Funnelforms Free shows the statistics of all forms, the figures per form and the figures on the canvas. Three parts belong to Pro. In their place there is one line with the badge Pro and the link More about Funnelforms Pro, which leads to the page Pro features:

  • Where visitors come from: "Sources, channels and campaigns come with Funnelforms Pro. They are counted already, so Pro shows them at once."
  • Export: the button carries the badge Pro and leads to the page Pro features.
  • The analytics of a form: in the figures of a form, More in the analytics shows the badge Pro with the link More about Funnelforms Pro.

Where visitors come from (Pro only)

Funnelforms assigns every view to a channel: Direct, Search engines, Ads, Social networks, E-mail, Other websites, Your website or Other campaigns. The coloured bar shows the shares, the table below it the single sources. Only the domain of the page the visitor came from is stored (never the page itself or its query), or the values utm_source, utm_medium and utm_campaign of the page address. Values that look like an e-mail address are dropped. Funnelforms recognises clicks on ads by the usual markers in the page address. Funnelforms Free stores the source of every view as well, but does not show it.

When entries come in

The heatmap shows the entries by weekday and hour, from Fewer to More. Above it you read, for example, "Most entries come in on Tuesday and between 9 and 10 o'clock."

Where visitors leave

A step appears only once at least 10 visits have reached it. Before that you read "Not enough visits yet to tell." Steps of earlier versions that no longer exist are not listed. A visit that goes from a question to an end of its own, such as "not suitable", does not count as leaving on that question.

What the statistics record

At the end of the page, the section What the statistics record explains what is stored:

  • Per page view: that the form was seen and started, which steps were shown and the step before each, which fields stopped the visitor because their check failed, which options of choice questions were picked (only their ids, never typed text) and the variant of an A/B test.
  • The source of the visit as described above.
  • A page view is known only by a random number the browser forgets when the page closes. No cookies, no IP address, no user agent, no external service.
  • Only in Pro and only where the visitor allowed statistics: the fields filled in, the device class from the window width and a random visitor id the browser keeps in local storage for 180 days. From these the analytics of a form show views by device and returning visitors. Details are in the article Analytics mode in the builder.
  • Times, devices, numbers and calculation results come from the entries themselves and show only as counts and averages of at least three entries.
  • The measurement data is deleted after 400 days. That is why a custom period reaches back 400 days at most.

The preview in the editor and in the editors of WordPress or Elementor sends nothing.

Why do views and entries sometimes differ?

Funnelforms counts entries even when the visitor's browser sent no measurement data, for example because of an ad blocker. So there can be more entries in a period than measured views.

The figures of a form

In Free, a click on a form opens its figures on the Statistics page. At the top you find All forms (back to the overview), the form's name and Open in editor. Below, you see the main figures for Last 7 days, Last 30 days or Last 90 days: views, started, sent, conversion rate and Average time to fill in with its median, a chart per day, Where visitors leave with the step where most leave, Devices and Answers of choice questions. If the form is not published, it says "No figures yet".

The same figures show in Free and Pro in the window "Statistics: …" that you open with the chart icon in the form list. In Pro, Open analytics there leads to the form's analytics with sources, times per step, campaigns and the heatmap.

On narrow screens

On a phone, the period buttons take a row of their own. Wide tables stay inside their card and can be swiped sideways.

Best practices

  • Judge a form only once enough views have come in. With few visits the shares swing widely.
  • Compare periods of the same length. With Custom you can, for example, check a campaign week against the week before.
  • Look first at the steps under Where visitors leave. A change pays off most there.
  • Add utm_source, utm_medium and utm_campaign to links in ads and newsletters. In Pro you then see the campaign in the statistics; in Free it is counted already.

Troubleshooting

ProblemCauseSolution
"No views in this period yet."No form was viewed, or all still run on Funnelforms 3.Check that the form is published and embedded on a page.
A form shows dashes and the badge "Funnelforms 3".It still runs on Funnelforms 3.Views and drop-offs are measured once it runs on Funnelforms 5.
"Those days are no valid period, so the last 30 days are shown."The custom period is longer than 400 days, ends after today, or the first day is after the last.Pick up to 400 days that end today at the latest.
There are more entries than views. The browser sent no measurement data. This is possible, for example because of ad blockers. The entries are complete anyway.
Where visitors leave is empty. There are too few visits yet.Wait until at least 10 visits have reached a step.
Where visitors come from shows only a hint about Pro.You use Funnelforms Free.Sources and channels come with Pro. Free counts them already.
"The export of the statistics comes with Funnelforms Pro."The export is not included in Free. The export is part of Pro.
The menu item Statistics is missing. You lack the right "See entries".Ask an administrator for the right.

Tips

  • The export (Pro only) always takes the period you are looking at.
  • You see the time to fill in of single entries in the entry's side panel, in the section Visit.
  • Archived entries keep counting in the statistics.

FAQ

How far does the longest period reach? Up to 400 days with Custom. That is how long the measurement data is kept.

What is a custom period compared with? With the same number of days directly before. If you choose 14 days, for example, the statistics compare with the 14 days before.

Do the statistics set cookies? No. They work without cookies, without IP addresses and without an external service. Only the extended statistics of Pro keep a visitor id in the browser's local storage, where the visitor allowed it.

Are the statistics included in Funnelforms Free? Yes: the Statistics page of all forms, the figures per form and the figures on the canvas. Sources, channels, campaigns, the export and the analytics per form belong to Pro.

Do I see older sources after switching to Pro? Yes. Free stores the source of every view, so Pro shows them at once, as long as the measurement data has not been deleted after 400 days.
